MCD, Spark and Vietnet – ICT in partnership for improving Vietnam coastal communities’ adaptation capability to climate changes
Ha Noi City, on March 29, 2013, Centre for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD), Center for Social Entrepreneurship Development (Spark) and Vietnet Information Technology (Vietnet – ICT) had a discussion and made a commitment to assistance for communities to cope with climate changes in coastal areas.
As the result, Vietnet – ICT, MCD and Spark pledged to share professional knowledge, and networking in order to assist communities in coping with climate changes by training coastal communities in information technology skills (IT skills) and improving local capability. Especially, due to social entrepreneurs, and non-government organizations which mentioned above, the sphere of influence of community initiative for adaptation to climate changes will be widen. The “Training IT skills for communities” program by Vietnet – ICT and NetPro Academy will operate at Ecolife–Café (Ecolife-Café is a social entrepreneur developing ecotourism in some coastal communities of Vietnam)
The partnership of MCD, Vietnet – ICT and Spark is expected to be a creative model for activities in training communities which are run by non-governments and social entrepreneurs. This model is expected to bring a double effect by maximize social influences and efficiency of capitals, which will improve the sustainability, model public services, meet communities’ variable learning needs and enact government’s policy on socializing education.
