MCD Promotes the Inter-Provincial Management Mechanisms of Red River Biosphere Reserve
The Red River Biosphere Reserve was accredited in Vietnam on December 2nd, 2004 by UNESCO. This reserve spans three provinces in Red Delta: Thai Binh, Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh. Because the reserve is managed through inter-provincial mechanisms, there is a need to build a general management regulation for stakeholders to follow, in order to reach general objectives.
The People’s Committee; Department of Natural Resource and Environment of Nam Dinh, Thai Binh and Ninh Binh; Centre of Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD); and local partners cooperated to implement a chain of activities promoting an inter-provincial management mechanism for the Red River Biosphere Reserve. As a result of MCD’s ongoing effort as a consultant as well as budget supporter, the conference reached an agreement to create a regulation for coordinated management of the Red River Biosphere Reserve.
The regulation is waiting for stakeholders to share ideas a last time before receiving official approval. The completion and promulgation this regulation is the first stage in developing economically and raising awareness of the community in order to reach the success of the objective “Coordinated management – Sustainable development”, simultaneously promoting the image of Red River Biosphere Reserve to domestic people and international friends.
