IMPROVING THE COMMUNITY LIVELIHOODS RESILIENCE AND ADAPTIVE MANAGEMENT OF VIETNAMESE MARINE RESERVES
By MFF/IUCN financing (Mangroves for the Future- International Union of Conservation Natural) Center for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD) implement project:” improving the community livelihood resilience and adaptive management of locally managed marine reserves in Vietnam: from locally actions to national network”. The project is implemented within 24 months (2013 -2015) in Vietnamese central coastal regions including Van Hung commune, Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province; Nhon Hai commune, Quy Nhon town, Binh Đinh province; Tan Hiep commune, Hoi An town, Quang Nam province, Vietnam.
The main goal of project is that Network of Locally- Managed Marine Reserves in Vietnam is enhanced. The project looks forward to enhancing adaptive management of three locally- managed marine reserves through local activities to enhance national network of Vietnam marine reserves. There are 4 main results: capacity of local managers in locally-managed marine reserves and communities in project sites is enhanced; adaptive management plan is completed and share with Vietnam marine reserves network; resilience to climate change of community livelihood is improved, the project is managed efficiently.
The project is hoped to contribute importantly in activity program of Mangroves of the Future about adaptive management; sustainable livelihood and resilience of community.
The project has started since April, 2013. From 23 to 27 April, working team of MCD is going to have a scenery trip to assess the present, managed needs in locally reserves
