The “Ha Long Cat Ba Alliance: promoting the local engagement and community”, sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is performed by 3 organizations: Centre for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD), People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature), Center for Environment and Community Research (CECR). The project’s purposes are “Preserve the environment; manage, exploit and use natural resources effectively for sustainable development of Ha Long Bay”

The project focuses on these specific purposes:

1, Purpose 1: Develop a detailed technical planning scheme based on master planning and apply an integrated approach and sustainable aquaculture in Ha Long Bay in association with heritage conservation.

2, Purpose 2: Support the establishment, consultation and dissemination of an enabling legal and administrative framework for the good practices demonstration to be conducted by local community with environmental-friendly aquaculture linked with responsible tourism in Ha Long Bay.

3, Purpose 3: Engage multiple party collaboration and involvement of related party in protecting the environment and sustainable development of Ha Long Bay.

+, Activities regarding protecting the environment of Ha Long Bay is collaborated with Quang Ninh Province, Ha Long Bay Management Department (HLBMD), Ha Long Association for Environmental Education and Protection and other related party, such as the launching of the campaign of cleaning the coastal areas on September 23^rd ,2015 with the participation of over 3000 people; or the events on the World Environment Day on June 5^th, … drawing responses and participations of thousands of people. +, Connecting with “Promote the involvement of enterprises” constituent, which is leaded by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), open the modular community market EKCOCENTER by Coca-Cola company at resettlement area, Ha Phong ward to help with broadcasting facilities.

+, Series of events in response to the World Environment Day, Vietnam’s Sea and Island week 2016 are held on June 4^th ,2016 in Ha Long, Quang Ninh with the participation of nearly 1000 Communist Youth Union members, youth, and other Union institutions. The event was held by the collaboration of Centre for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD), Quang Ninh Province, People’s Committee of Ha Long City, Ha Long Bay Management Department.
