Ha Long Bay is a world natural heritage and an economics center of Quang Ninh province and Northeastern Vietnam. However, the natural landscape and socio-economic ​​value of the Ha Long Bay are at risk due to environmental pollution, particularly plastic waste pollution, in the coastal water and the bay. According to the Statistics from the People’s Committee of Ha Long city (in 2019), on average, Ha Long city collected roughly 200-250 tons of waste per day, in which, only the coastal water near the local fishing port has 2-3 tons of garbage per day and the core area of ​​the bay has 6-7 tons, mostly floating plastic waste. These numbers will escalate unless the residential communities of Quang Ninh province in general and Halong city in particular take an immediate action.

The online contest for “joining hands to reduce plastic waste for blue Ha Long Bay” aims to encourage the residents of Quang Ninh province to search for and spread new initiatives in reducing solid waste and plastic waste, contributing to the conservation of environment and landscape of the coastal area for a blue and sustainable Ha Long Bay.

The awards include:

✔ First prize: 5,000,000 VND / prize;

✔ Second prize: 3,000,000 VND / prize;

✔ Third prize: 2,000,000 VND / prize;

✔ Extra prize: 1,000,000 VND / prize.

* Maximum 03 awards for each category

* Outstanding entries will be published on the official media channels of the contest.
